What drew you to become a fashion designer?
Fashion for me has always been a reflection of being and feeling. As a teen I found myself altering garments to suit my personality, looks or mood. Flattering the figure and feeling good in your skin is a must. My passion, evident as a teen, is still there today and my designer direction has flourished in leaps and bounds since trademarking Barbwire Noose® Clothing in 2004 – 2005.
Why was it important to you to offer a sustainable, responsible, Eco fashion line and how do you incorporate ideals such a Zero Waste into your work?
We have one planet Earth, a beautiful and diverse landscape of flourishing life provides all we need to develop and thrive. We must look after it. We must love and care for all things living. Barbwire Noose® strives in both Mission and Vision to contribute to 'A Better World'. Responsible practices within the textiles industry is important to care for our environment. Offering sustainable fashion is a passion as well as the direction we should be embracing and driving into the future.
Where do your find inspiration for new work?
Life experiences. My pieces are always an artistic take on personal experience and social expression. Barbwire Noose® takes great pride in that our established line offers Organic Cotton, Bamboo and Hemp options.
What are the biggest challenges you face as an sustainable designer?
Supply and costs dampen the immediate progress of organic textiles. Demand is increasing for sustainable fashion, yet price challenges its streamline purchasing.
How do you help customers understand the higher cost of sustainable garments when they are so inundated with sweat shop-produced cheap merchandise?
Focusing on the benefits and value in sustainable garments I think helps clients understand the benefits of sustainable living and the price difference.
What can we look forward to seeing on the runway at Eco Fashion Week Australia?
This year we are SO Excited to be part of the Upcycling Challenge bringing Beauty and Brawn together by recycling servicemen shirts into a gorgeous ball garment. We will also be offering a new take on recycled plastic bottles turned into felt materials, Cloud9 Fabrics and more Raw creativity as indulged last year!
How do you incorporate sustainable living in other areas of your life?
I am a major water saver. I reside on a farm, use frog friendly treatments and purchase organic products. Full laundry washes, low watering plants and conservative bathroom habits is how I broadly incorporate sustainable living, along with being a stickler for Eco products purchases whenever wherever I can.

Barbwire Noose® began following my fight for better quality of life for disabled clients in government care. Fear Is The Root Of All Weakness® - slogan, long holding place on a yellow curtain blind which was purchased in youth whilst still fresh out of home. At the time it was inspirational and relevant as the main reason for silence on this neglect was fear of harassment from almost the Entire department, staff through to Disability Minister. The Clothing and Accessories are Crafted with a Personal Touch and Proudly Australian Owned.
Barbwire Noose® is Dedicated to Making 'A Better World™'. Including Organic Materials as a Standard Option on a wide range in the Product selection.
